What is Wellness, Anyway? June 12, 2008

Wellness is an issue that I’d like to explore here for the next few posts, as it is a topic that has many facets. I believe wellness means much more than being free from disease. Dictionary.com defines it as “1. the quality or state of being healthy in body and mind, esp. as the result of deliberate effort”, and ”2. an approach to healthcare that emphasizes preventing illness and prolonging life, as opposed to emphasizing treating diseases. ”
I like the 2nd definition better than the first, as it takes into account prevention. However, it doesn’t go far enough! Wikipedia says this: “Wellness is generally used to mean a healthy balance of the mind-body and spirit that results in an overall feeling of well-being.” Now, bringing in the element of the mind, body, and spirit as a part of wellness is the one that I would agree with. It is more holistic – encompassing the whole person rather than isolating just one or more aspects of who we are.
We are, after all, more than just our physical bodies. We are emotional, intellectual, and spiritual beings. We are energy! This means we are wonderfully powerful and complex, with almost unlimited potential to be who we desire to be.
So, over the course of the next few days, let’s take each aspect – body, mind, and spirit – and explore what wellness means to each. As new readers find this blog, I welcome any genuine comments and contributions to this discussion.
Thanks!

So Many Work At Home “Opportunities”! June 11, 2008

Lately, I have been looking at how many “work at home” listings there are out there on the internet. OMG! So many so-called “opportunities”!! I have actually looked at many of them in my search for a way to make an income from working at home with my computer. Many that I have looked at involve clicking on ad offers, which almost invariably require “completion of offers”, which mean you have to actually purchase something or at the very least give them your credit card info for a “free” introductory offer (after which of course they start charging your card if you don’t manage to get your cancellation to them in time). Yikes!
I don’t know about you, but how in the heck are you supposed to keep track of all these free offers so you can cancel in time? That’s way too involved and complicated for me. Not to mention the idea of having your credit / debit card number out there to companies you may not necessarily know or trust yet.
Other work at home schemes (and I say “schemes” for a reason) require you to purchase something up front – like a book or a membership or an ongoing monthly subscription fee, supposedly to give you the privilege to look at a list of employers or tips on how to go about getting these jobs! No guarantees of course. Some of these claim they are for legitimate jobs from home. Well, if they were really legitimate employers looking for people to work for them, why should the prospective employees have to pay them for anything?!
Unfortunately, these people who are ONLY interested in making a quick buck have ruined it for other really honest, legitimate business people who are earning a good income from home and are looking to find others to join them. People have understandably become very skeptical and cautious, and a lot of good people are missing out on some really excellent opportunities as a result.
I know I was that way (skeptical and cautious) and still am, to some extent. However, I am so glad I did step out on faith to have a look at this business I am building. I watched the information webcast, talked to people involved, researched the corporate company my team partners with, and saw that it was based on a solid foundation and excellent products that people want. That is the key! I took the leap …. and am so glad I did!

I have been looking for a long time for a perfect home business – one I could start that wouldn’t cost me more money than I was earning from it. I have had several businesses in my working career – from my own brick and mortar stained glass supply shop / gift shop to my own glass art and oil painting website to a natural wellness product online store, and of course, several network marketing businesses.
Up until now, none have made it possible for me to add to our family income – instead they all have cost me so much more money than they have brought in! I was at the point of just giving up on having my own business and look for a job outside the home, when I came across an ad on a job search site. It sure sounded perfect to me, as it talked about working from home and working with a team of women who would help me build my business.
When I went to the website, I was so enthralled to see it talk about dreaming again, about women working together to help each other, about access to products that build personal and environmental wellness, and about personal well-being and financial freedom! It sounded like it was about all the things I am passionate about! I asked for more information and I have never looked back.
If any of this resonates with you, please check it out. Join our team. We are a group of women with integrity who enjoy the freedom of making an honest living from home. We do not sell products, have to keep inventory, hold “parties”, take orders, or have to do any deliveries. Sound interesting? Go and check out my website – and fill out your info. The entire business is explained in a free live webcast. There is no obligation or high-pressure tactics done – believe me, if there had been when I first saw this, I would have been out the door faster than you can blink!
Ok – enough said. Here is where to go to see more: http://www.DreamYourselfSuccessful.com .
By the way, in case you are wondering, the cost to get involved is under $30! (In fact, until the 20th of this month, it is even half-price) Even that is refundable for up to 3 months. No risk at all. Is it worth your time to check it out? Only you can answer that.
